Build a charging-route plan around things to verify

A charging-route plan should show what needs verifying, not simply a line of charger icons.

A charging-route plan should show what needs verifying, not simply a line of charger icons. Start with the vehicle's requirements and the current information from suitable providers.

Check connector compatibility, access conditions, payment methods and the site's operating arrangements. A location may have several connectors but limited availability or different power capabilities. Read the vehicle manual for charging guidance and use the network's current status information when planning.

Keep a workable alternative

Choose an alternative stop that fits the vehicle and route, with enough margin to change plans according to the manufacturer's guidance. Do not treat an old review or a map pin as proof that a charger is operating now. Consider the facilities needed by passengers while waiting.

Record the network, address and official information link. Check whether an account or app must be set up before arrival and whether the site has restrictions such as parking fees. Keep personal and payment information secure.

Recheck before departure and during the journey when appropriate. Charging speed and energy use depend on several conditions, so a planning estimate is not a guaranteed stop length. The useful plan makes dependencies visible and gives you alternatives, while leaving the vehicle's instructions and current network information in charge of the actual charging decision.
